Sadly, the London Marathon has had to be postponed this April, meaning that many charities are missing out on vital funding. The London Marathon Group have therefore launched a campaign called: Save the Charities.

Save the Charities’ signature event is an at home event based around the number 26 (the number of miles in a marathon) - The 2.6 Challenge – and it’s something everyone can get involved with!

This is a challenge for all ages and abilities! All you need to do is think of an activity based around the numbers 26 or 2.6 that suits your skills and complete it during Sunday 26 April 2020 and the week following.  The only rule is that you must follow the government’s guidelines for social distancing.

This fits in with myaware’s own My Stay At Home Challenge, which encourages people to help those living with myasthenia by taking part in an event without having to leave the house.

Dream up your 2.6 Challenge – it could be anything from walking 2.6 kilometres or miles of your garden or stairs, or using your mobility scooter to complete the challenge, 26 keepy uppies with a football in an hour, or 26 minutes of yoga.

It doesn’t have to be a physical activity though – why not use My Stay At Home Challenge Number 3 – and spend 26 minutes, 2.6 hours or 26 hours away from any screens, getting sponsored to do so? These are just a few ideas – the choice is yours!

To get involved, go to the 2.6 Challenge Website by clicking on this button and follow the links for fundraisers.

Myaware is registered with both JustGiving and Virgin Money Giving, choose either platform and search for ‘myaware’ to set up your fundraising page.

Ask all of your friends and family to sponsor you before, during and after your challenge! Contact your Regional Fundraiser if you need any support with your fundraising.

We would love to see your fundraising events on social media – tag @myawareUK and don’t forget to hashtag #TwoPointSixChallenge and #mystrengthshared.

Thank you for helping to save the UK’s charities and for being part of this national event to raise much needed funds for myaware during this challenging time.
