There is currently a national shortage in supply of Propantheline Bromide. Myaware has been in contact with the seller, Kyowa Kirin, and manufacturers Grunenthal and Haupt Pharma to confirm this. Whilst this is ongoing, to manage stomach cramping alternatives such as Buscopan and Mebeverine can be used, but please discuss this with your neurologist before commencing treatment.

We would like to emphasise that these medicines are not essential drugs for myasthenia treatment but are used to counteract the side effects of Pyridostigmine. If your myasthenia is well under control, reducing your dose of Pyridostigmine may also reduce side effects, but again, do not do this without consulting your neurologist first.

Myaware will continue to engage with the companies involved and update the community as soon as any new information becomes available. As of yet, there is no date for resupply.

Report any side effect you have to the Medicines Health and Regulatory Authority (MHRA) as part of their Yellow Card Scheme.
