Hi,

Does your friend take Propantheline Bromide as part of her tablet regime? I do I take
Pro Banthine which is a tablet that help disorders in the gastrointestinal tract to help stop spasms.

I think a lot of people who take mestinon for MG take this tablet to help with the discomfort etc mestinon causes.

Hi,

Someone I know takes his mestinon with a little bit of banana; he says it stops the diarrhoea for him and the banana doesn't seem to interfere much if at all with absorption of his mestinon. I tried it, but the banana didn't help with my mestinon induced diarrhoea, but it could still perhaps be worth a try; we all respond differently to these things.

I tend to take my first one after I take Lansoprazole with glass of skim milk. This was recomended to me by my Neuro and I also read that it helps somewhere. I suffer IBS attacks, so any effect can be very quick for me. I also eat bananas as part of my breakfast routine. It does seem to help a bit. I started on 30 x 4 per day, and then doubled to 60 x 4 tab's per day. Drinking a little bit of flat zero coke may help too. (For nausea). Tell you pal to keep trying for a week and see. If it still does not settle, then fybogel taken prior to mestinon may help a little. I have some for days when I get IBS due to other tab's I also take. The diabetic ones sometimes contra indicate with the MG one's - but at the end of the day, I have to try and function as best I can and sometimes I have to compromise.

Type II. Diagnosed 2003. The drugs I currently take are:

Byetta injection 2 x day
Metformin SR 2000mg day max dose
Gliclazide 160mg day
Furosemide 40mg day
Prednisolone 50mg day max dose
Mestinon 240mg day
Azathioprine 200mg day could go upto 400mg/weight ratio dose
Sudafed 240mg day
Lansoprazole 30mg day
Fybogel when I need to
ADcal D3
Alendronic acid 70mg x week
And now and again Flucloxacillin Anit bio's

It is the steroids that send my sugar spiking in middle of day. So I have to take Gliclazide to help counter that, but if I ever get rid of steroids that has to go due to my job. Assuming I am still in one by then! DVLA issues and hypo's, but one of those is fairly unlikely at moment.

Hi Marie,

I have moved this topic to treatments, there are a lot of former posts about mestinon and various suggestions by members over the years as this subect has come up many times, you may find that helpful to look at.
